Vontaze Burfict loses appeal, will serve 4-game suspension for violating NFL’s PED policy

Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict has lost his appeal and will begin the 2018 season serving a four-game suspension for violating the league’s PED policy, according to an NFL statement.

Ian Rapoport had previously reported that if Burfict lost his appeal, the guarantees in his three-year, $33 million contract would be void.

While Josh Allen rumors persist, the Browns are likely to take the draft’s best quarterback in Darnold. The passer the Browns take first overall will sit behind Tyrod Taylor for at least a full year.

New Giants GM Dave Gettleman drafted Christian McCaffrey with the eighth overall pick last year when he was in charge of the Panthers. Now he has a chance to draft an even better runner in Barkley. Teams have inquired about this pick, but New York seems reluctant to trade it.

When the Jets traded up to the third overall pick, they knew exactly who they were targeting. New York’s decision-makers have made multiple visits to Oklahoma this year, and they spoke at length with Mayfield at the Senior Bowl and NFL Combine. Mayfield also has already been introduced to Jets ownership.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider are also expected to sit for deposition this month, when they will likely be asked why they canceled a workout with Kaepernick this week before signing Stephen Morris to back up Russell Wilson.

Yahoo reported earlier this week that Kaepernick himself will be deposed by NFL lawyers early next week. According to the report, Kaepernick’s grievance against the NFL could drag into 2019.

Just how bad Wuerffel wants to win the U.S. Open of Football became evident after his on-campus news conference was completed. Doering, who admittedly was taking his own involvement much lighter, had agreed to a telephone interview with Sporting News that would coincide with the start of practice. When Wuerffel found out, he asked that the session get moved to a later time so Doering would not miss any snaps.seahawks_043
